How to care for your jewelry?
Instants Plaisirs reveals some care tips and tricks to help you take care of your little treasures so they last over time ♡
Three different materials are available on our website:
- 18-karat gold-plated jewelry (3 microns )
- 925 silver jewelry ( rhodium -plated or not, depending on the model)
- Costume jewelry : In gold or silver stainless steel
Key features:
Regardless of the material, all our jewelry is resistant to fresh water. Our delicate pieces are designed to accompany you in your daily life and are often worn layered. Sometimes subjected to rough handling during the day, they need, just like us, rest and pampering. Here's a brief care guide:
- In the morning, adorn yourself with your jewelry after your beauty routine (avoiding contact with perfume/cosmetics).
- During the day, remove them before any physical activity, swimming or household chores and store them in your Instant Pleasures pouches or cases.
- In the evening, clean them carefully with a soft cloth or chamois before letting them rest away from moisture and individually in your Instants Plaisirs pouches or cases.
When you travel, we recommend separating your jewelry into several pouches or cases to prevent them from damaging each other.
If, despite these precautions, your jewelry starts to tarnish or leave black marks on your skin, a deeper cleaning is necessary:
Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and Marseille soap, immerse your jewelry in it and gently clean it with a soft-bristled brush or soft cloth depending on the delicacy of the jewelry, rinse it with clean water and dry it with a soft, clean, dry cloth.

Caring for gold-plated jewelry
What is a gold-plated piece of jewelry?
Gold-plated jewelry is jewelry made of metal (for example, brass) coated with a layer of gold. All our gold-plated jewelry features a 3-micron, 18-karat gold plating. This type of plating is required to qualify as "gold-plated" in France. Less expensive than solid gold jewelry but boasting a beautiful golden shine and lasting quality, gold-plated jewelry holds an important place in our jewelry boxes, and it is for all these reasons that we are pleased to offer it to you on our website.
How to care for and clean a gold-plated piece of jewelry?
Gold-plated jewelry, like silver, can tarnish over time. Several factors can affect its evolution over the years. To prolong its shine, it is advisable to remove your gold-plated jewelry when going to the beach or the sea, avoid exposure to cosmetic products (perfume, creams, etc.), and take it off for housework and sports.
To clean your gold-plated jewelry and restore its shine, it couldn't be simpler: choose a soft cloth (or a chamois) and use soapy water to gently clean it. Dry it delicately with a clean, dry cloth.
When you are not wearing your jewelry, store it in its case or pouch, in a dry place and away from light.
Caring for 925 silver jewelry
What is a 925 silver jewel?
925 silver jewelry is jewelry that meets the 925/1000 standard. This means that these pieces are composed of at least 92.5% pure silver. To make it workable and maintain a certain hardness, other metals, such as copper, are added to the composition.
Please note that many of our silver jewelry pieces are rhodium-plated. An additional layer of rhodium is added to protect them.
How to care for and clean silver jewelry?
This precious metal naturally tarnishes and darkens over time when exposed to air and humidity. Several factors can influence how a silver piece of jewelry will change over the years. One such factor is skin acidity, which varies from person to person. To slow down oxidation, we recommend removing your small silver jewelry before swimming in the sea or pool, as well as when doing housework or engaging in sports. It is also advisable to avoid contact with cosmetic products such as perfume.
No worries! To clean your silver jewelry, use a soft cloth, such as a chamois. Then gently rub your jewelry. For a more thorough cleaning, there are specific products available commercially, such as cleaning baths and kits.
Finally, keep your jewelry dry, in its case, away from light, when you are not wearing it.
Caring for stainless steel jewelry
What is stainless steel jewelry?
Stainless steel is a good alternative when choosing your jewelry. In addition to being affordable, stainless steel jewelry is both durable and does not tarnish over time.
How to care for and clean stainless steel jewelry?
Cleaning them is easy: simply use a soft cloth and gently rub the jewelry. That's all there is to it!
